Default Door spring

My 97 Blazer died and I got a 98 Jimmy. The door spring from the Jimmy is missing and I'm trying to replace it with the spring from the Blazer door.

I have the tool and the spring is compressed but I can't get it out. I've been scouring the 'net looking for tips on getting it out but all I find is how to install them. Nothing on uninstalling.

Any help?

Try from the outer most slots. I've notice if I'm even 1 slot in, I have more of a hard time.

that and try having the door closed about half way, if your nimble enough lol...

Thanks for the reply. By “slots” I'm thinking you're referring to the coils, no?

As far as nimble goes – that ship sailed some time ago.

I can try getting the tool in the furthest coils but it is tight in there... not much room to work.

You may have to slightly "tap" the tool to get it seated between the end coils. I say "tap" as the tool isn't made to be the strongest tool out there.

Yes the coils, and tighten to the point where the overall length is about 3" or less...

edit: I get the no room. I've used my tool about 5 times more then I ever though I would lol...

Got it. The tip about half closing the door enabled me to force the tip of a screwdriver in to the end and, some finagling later, the whole thing sprang out.

Gonna get the guy loaned me the tool to put it in the Jimmy.

Yeah you can remove them with a large flat head like that, but you definitely need the spring compressor tool to reinstall them lol

Did not mean to suggest that I didn't use the spring compressor in conjunction with the screwdriver.
