Driver side door gap problem
 

Hello everybody

I have problem with my 00 Jimmy there is a gap between the door and the weather seal strip. When rain is coming water leaks inside and also, when I drive in highway I can hear a horrible sound of air coming inside.I measure the gap between by putting my finger in the gap and I have been allowed to reach in between of weather seal strip and the door and I can press on the weather seal strip using my finger .

Can anyone tell me how can I solve this problem?

How does the door line up with the body? I'm wondering if your missing that plastic piece on the door, and also wondering if the seal is worn.

It aligned perfectly with the rear door. Can be from the seal it self ?

Can you post some pictures?

How does the weather stripping etc. compare to the same on the passenger side?

I'm thinking it could be the seal. There's the one that goes on the body, then there should be a piece that goes up the length of the door, on the angled part only.

I'm not too sure how much of an effect that small piece has, but maybe the seal itself.

I will upload photo of it tomorrow because now is night so, photo will not be clear.

Hmmm. I think it looks like you have all the seals you should have.

What is the condition of the hinges? The lock and strike plate? Perhaps it is the door that is not aligned and drooping. Do you have to lift it at all to get it to close? If so the hinges could be bad and the lock mechanism could have been damaged.

If it is the door hinge, you might fix it with a set of new bushings. What makes me think that it might not be the hinge or at least only the hinge is that it appears that you have a gap where the rear of the door meets the pillar. This prompted me to suggest that there could be an issue with the lock too.

If the door itself is straight and nothing is bent, I would look into a seal.

All the bushings include pin and spring roller pin are new So, I don't think this problem can be from them.
