I have a 2000 Blazer LS 2 door, I need to replace the drivers side door hinges. I am trying to get the old hinges off, I took theBlazer to my local welding shop to get a price on welding the new ones on, he said all I had to do was drill the 4 dimples on the hingewith a 1/4" drill bit and that they would fall off. I did that and the hinges didn't budge, the guy at the welding shop said drill them out bigger, I am up ti 3/8" and they still won't budge. Anybody know how to get the old hinges off?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Did you drill at the original weld locations? It should be fairly straight forward...

The guy at the welding shop showed me these four dimples on the hinge that he said were the welding points. I am not so sure if they are, I have drilled them all out with a 3/8" bit (pretty big holes) and smacked the hinge with a 4 pound hammer pretty damn hard and they won't move at all!

Post a pic if it's not too much trouble!

Here is a pic of the hinge with the dimples. I hope I uploaded it right.

Pic isn't showing up. From the ones that I have seen, there may be 5 spot welds on the hinge. One directly in the middle of the other 4. The middle one might not be as pronounced as the others. Also, how deep are you drilling? You need to atleast go through the material thickness of the hinge itself.

I don't know why the pics are not showing.... anyway I am drilling ALL the way through the hinge and the body. I will drill another hole in the center and see if that helps.
Thanks!

Wait a minute... So you are drilling where those dimples are, but the spot welds themselves appear to be in towards the center of the hinge from the dimples.

YES, I am drilling where those dimples are, that is where my local welding shop told me to drill (seeing how I don't know anything about welding). Where is it that I should be drilling (I can't see the spots)?.

As I said above, in the picture that you posted earlier (and I editted with locations of the actual spot welds), the dimples do not light up with the spot welds.
And I cringed when I saw how deep those holes were drilled... You didn't need to go all the way through on them. Only as deep as the hinge itself is thick.
