Default Engine recommendation

I have a 2000 Chevy Blazer 4x4 with 4 doors. shortly after passing someone the engine started knocking. (about 140,000 miles) It runs but not drivable as it seems to have lost power and the sound gets worse the longer it runs....I dont want to blow it up so i can still move it. I want to buy a new engine but not sure if its worth it and not sure what it the best replacement motor for it. Thanks for any recomendations.

I have had one of these engines in mine since 2013. Zero troubles. Whether or not a 2000 Blazer is worth the cost, is up to you. Most people would put a used one in.

WOW! I looked at the price and am at a loss for understanding why the large discrepancy between venders of rebuilt engines. I priced one at our local autoparts store and it was half the price. I know i should do an engine swap but not sure if its woth the cost. i am on the thinking block.

13 years ago these were about $2100. I suspect that now they sell a lot fewer of these, and that drives the price up due to less popularity.

@LesMyer I did purchase a remanufactured engine. I started another post about how to go about re-assembling the engine and the blazer. Thanks for the encouragement on the new purchase. If the job wasn't so difficult and time consuming i probably would have went a different route. I want to do this one right because i DON'T want any troubles with it later. Quick question....The valve covers are original but look good. They may have fatigue since they are plastic. should i just replace them and if so any opinions? Thanks again!

I don't see any reason to replace the plastic valve covers. You can even paint them so they look like new.
