Lets see some CB installs

I love this radio! It's small enough that it's not in the way, and doesn't hurt as bad when it gets knocked around the cabin while bouncing around the trails. It is still powerful enough to be effective while out on the trails. I only wish I could find a good amp to put on it, you know, for that little something extra.

I used to have a K5 with a center console and mounted a Cobra 29 Classic on the side of the console between it and the driver's seat, with the controls facing up. It was a great set-up: easy control access and out of the way. The wires and co-ax were ran along the tranny hump under the carpet, just needed to cut a small hole in the carpet directly under the radio. Very clean and effective. Sorry guys, but I don't have any pics of the install. Gotta use your imagination.

Radio is a Midland 1001Z, (nice and compact in size) and the antenna is a firefly tunable.
Mounted the radio on the center console for easy access.
Had to run a ground wire from antenna mount to the body to get a good ground, the bushings that the spare tire carrier swings on prevent a good ground.

Still trying to figure out where to mount my HF antenna. I have two amateur rigs I'm planning to install in my 95, an IC-2820 and an FT-857. The plan is to mount the control heads to the center console right above the cassette storage (or maybe replace that with a flat panel to do the job), then mount the main units to the rear trim and run cables back to them.
1) How do I get the cassette holder out?
2) Is there a good way to get cables from the center console between the front seats to the door channels? From there, I can get it done.

You need a good ground for any CB antenna to work well. Don't just use a wire. Take a piece of coax and use the braid from it, to go from your antenna mount to a good solid ground on the truck body. You might need a second strap from that body panel to the frame to make sure you've got a really good, solid RF ground.
