Just wondering if anyone has taken theirs off. Does GM (or anyone else for that matter) make any kind of covers to go over the attachment points on the roof?

I think Eurogold took his off. You need a t15 bit (or whatever it is, maybe its a t27) and you remove the screws, and then you need to seal the holes with silicone sealent. You could get someone to weld covers on the holes which would look much better. But that may also be more expensive.

I was just wondering if anyone made little plastic covers that would be screwed on over the existing attachment points after the rack is removed. I really don't want blobs of silicone left up there. I kind of have my doubts the stuff would stay there over time anyway.
I don't need the rack, and I found out it's a PITA in the winter to get rid of the snow from the roof.

Yeah, I think your right about it being a T15 speeddemon, but dont qoute me on it either it has been a while since I removed mine! You really only have a few options here: A. physically cut the attatchment points out and weld in some small covers, do the proper sanding and body work and paint it leaving a completely smooth surface B: Fill them with silicone, you dont have to put alot, and they will not leak if sealed properly. C. Fill them with silicone and put the Torx screw back in the holes.
I would go with option B., I did. I filled them with styrofoam, and then silicone. Evened out the silicone, no blobs, and painted over the entire attatchment when I got my paint job done. I have never had a problem with them and plus you dont even notice them once they are painted over.

Thanks for the idea. I'll try the second idea. I just don't want water getting in there.
You're talking silicone caulking, right?

or you can do what i did. put the screws back in the holes with silicone on them so they dont leak. its sealed, you dont notice them, plus if you need to put it back on, you have that option.
