i wasnt aware that the s10's had different mirrors than the blazers. my 98 most likely has the same mirrors as your 96 but a lot of the newer trucks (99 or 00+) and up have different mirrors.

to answer your question though, yes, the s10 mirrors should fit

All S10s got the same mirrors as the Blazers, as long as you stick to the same generation, you should be good to go.

you were probably looking at a newer s10. mine is hinged at the bottom like yours, but the newer ones are hinged towards the top... i like the look of mine more than the newer ones though

Any Gen 2 mirror from a S-10, Sonoma, Blazer, Jimmy, Bravada should work for your 96. Gen 2 is from whenever they switched to the same body styles of your 96 thru 2005. The 2000+ models do have different mirror but they mount up the same. The only thing you have to watch for is to make sure you are getting the correct type of mirror (i.e. manual for manual mirrors, power for power mirrors, everything else should just be options like heated and drivers side electrochromatic/dimming (sp?)). I myself will be getting the newer mirrors eventually called the sail style (as shown here), I currently have the same stock ones as you (as shown here) . Hope this helps you out.
