Default New here, first post-question about side and bumper molding

New here.
Just picked up a mint 1995 blazer four door from my father in law to use as a winter vehicle. My 2012 hyundai sonata is the worst winter vehicle ever.
Anyways, he babied and pampered this vehicle and it only has 140K miles in it. The interior is like new.
My question is, I was looking to spruce up the exterior a little. The rocker panels have some light rust, some will probably clean up and spray myself with spray cans. I am not sure how to tackle the body trim pieces though. In most places, the black coating is completely worn off the trim pieces and there is almost like a hard styrofoam white substance exposed underneath. How are people dealing with this issue? Thanks for help.!
