Default Rear bumper gets "bumped"

So, this weekend i went and visiting the girlfriend up in Traverse City where she's from. I went to her dad's work place to get the key to their house because its on the way. I park my truck outside the office and when i come out i have this lovely surprise.

Sorry for the crappy picture but its a camera phone photo.

anyway, is there anyone who has had this happen and done the repairs them self?

Do i just need to take the piece off and pop out the dent or do i need to buy a whole new plastic piece?

Ive seen people take hair dryers and heat up the plastic and pop it back out. Make sure you don't apply heat to one spot for too long even it out. I'm not sure if you can access the bumper from the inside to push it out though.

Yeah take a rubber hammer and hit the back of it a few times. Heating it will help to (as c0a8l0v618n9 ... wow that takes time to type ...) just said. I'd also take it off, sand it, prime it, and paint it.

i plan on repainting it for sure, i like my truck looking nice as does everyone else. i tried getting back there to hit it but its hidden by the brackets and the hvac "box". i plan on trying to take it off and what not but if that fails i'm heading to the junk yard. Hopefully i get lucky.
