The carpet in my 1988 K5 is trashed. I was going to replace it with LMC's Molded Industrial Polyvinyl (MIP) instead of carpet. However, a guy I work with pointed out that the rubber would trap moisture, ulimately leading to rust. I live in Southern California, so humidity/moisture is generally not a concern. However, I am interested in what other people think/if anyone has seen issues after a few years of using the rubber matting.

My truck has rubber mat flooring from the factory I love it.If it gets muddy I can just wash it out at the car wash.Water I just wipe it out with dry towl.My 2 cents at least where I live its great.
BTW I grew up in San Diego back when things werent so crazy out in southern cal.Went out to visit back in 86 over 4th July weekend It was great there wasnt no traffic hardly anywhere.

i thought about rubber matting but i do offroad alot and my carpets were soggy alot and always created a nasty odor so they have been removed.i cleaned the metal surface and rocker gaurded some areas next im gonna use some sound dedning material to cover the interior wires on the floor and use the bedliner kit on the floor for more durability and convinence

both rubber and carpet material have their own advantages and weakness, personally, I like carpet mats, it looks like the floor of your car.
