Rust behind tail lights - 88 Blazer Help - fixable ?
1988 Blazer - Full Size
I was replacing a bulb in my tail light for the first time and when I removed the lens assembly all I can see is rust. I went to LMC Truck and do not see a part to replace.
I am about to replace the tail pan and floor and would like to do this at the same time.
Any help or advise appreciated.

I hate to say it but it looks like, at LMC, you would need the entire bed side panel. Ouch!
I wonder if you could find a junkyard and cut out the innards behind the lens and weld it in to yours.

Thank you for answering my question.
That is bad news.... However, both rear quarter panels have rust around the wheel wells also. There is a round spot right above the tire on the passenger side that I am unable to grind away. I have done it twice, until I hit shiny metal and 3 months later it is back.
I did drive past a junk yard in PA on Route 209 about 2 miles south of Rt 80 a few years ago that looked like it had over 50 blazers. I will call them and see if they have what I need.
Thanks again,
Tom McGuire
PS: I just found 1/2 rear quarter panels at: www.rustrepair.com for 90.47 each. The picture shows that the back section of the panel for the tail lights is there. This may be my best solution

Yeah, I would definitely suggest finding replacement panels at a junk yard. Check out craigslist.com or other similar local for sale websites. I found a complete set of bed sides (inside & outside) for $150 with no rust and minimal damage.
