Some rust on the right, rear rocker panel, 1999 4DR Blazer 4x4
Hi All!
I have some rust bubbling up on the right, rear rocker panel of my 1999 Blazer 4 door. I felt the panels and it seems like it is still structurally sound, no holes, still feels strong to me. I'm thinking about taking some time and sanding out the rust and filling in the area with Bondo and then repainting over it. I want to keep this vehicle for a long time to come and I don't want a rusty rocker panel problem if I can help it. I had a real bad problem with my 1994 Ford Explorer and I was going to just clean it out and fill it in to pass inspection, but the Explorer "kicked the bucket" before I could do it. I saw how bad the Explorer was, I don't want a repeat here.
I'm just looking for advice or other ideas as well. BTW, I've heard of the paint, Chassis Saver, do you think it would be worth a try? I also have a can of Rust Fix" too, will that do any good until I get around to fixing it? I'm fairly new to this but I'm willing to learn and try and I understand I might not fix it to textbook perfection but I'll try to get it close as I can.
BTW, thanks in advance for any advice.
