Default staggered wheels

Just got some C6 vette rims (17 x 8.5 front and 18 x 9.5 rear) wanna run 245/45/17's up front and 275/40/18's rear on a 02 4 x 4 blazer, some say as long as i do NOT engage the 4 x 4 i'll be ok others say i'll tear out the transfer case. I am NOT going to run these rims while using the 4 x 4 and the overall diameter on these tires is 26" front and 27" rear. will i be okay? GM dealer locally says yes but my mechanic says no! searched several forums and get split opinions!

I need some accurate advice and information on this topic...Thanks!

I definitely wouldn't do it....why not just get 2 sets of front or 2 sets of rear wheels and match all 4 tires?......that's the best route I can see.

2 reasons why i do not want to go that route.

1. want a slight rake to the vehicle as it has been lowered 4" front 3" rear.

2. the 18's are 9.5" wide... too wide for the front and the 17's look like *** all the way around. No one makes an 18 x 8 C6 rim not even the reproduction places.

I have had no problems with the 4 x 4 since lowering it 2 years ago, i think i have used the 4 x 4 maybe 4 or 5 times since new in 2002.

My priority is not to have usable 4 x 4 but i will not remove the 4 x 4 either as has been suggested by others. I usually only drive this vehicle in the summer and now that i am moving to Miami in a couple of months, the 4 x 4 really is not a priority.

As long as the 4x4 is NOT engaged, ITHINK you should be fine... The t-case and front axle aren't connected when you're in 2WD...

You'll find out very quickly if it's not disengaging, lol.
