RE: Westin Safari light bar
I know how you feel, I'm going on wednesday to order mine. I can't wait, I've wanted one for so long. I am going the whole nine yards with the lights. I am putting two on the bar and three along the front bar of the roof rack.

|
RE: Westin Safari light bar
im betting it might look something like this.....
http://photos-c.ak.facebook.com/phot...09514_3910.jpg very nice add-on......... i found it to be a bit weak tho, but there again, I have been known to try to mow down small trees, animals, childern, etc..... (j/k bout the kids and animals).... but if you arent planning on it being a push bar then it is very very nice..... I had to upgrade to this.... http://photos-a.ak.facebook.com/phot...21792_9808.jpg good luck with your bar... the install will only take 10-20 minutes...lol oh yea... and if u know anyone in the kentucky area wanting a safari bar... I still have mine and the mounting kit and need to get rid of it...lol or if u know anyone wanting a whole blazer in the ky area, I still have mine and might get rid of it for the right price..lol |
RE: Westin Safari light bar
yeah dont plan on trying to knock to much over.. just waiting on the idiot here in colorado to hit me.. i swear people out her cant drive for the life of em.. (im from the N GA mountains) but yeah i might end up going to something like that later on but this will make me happy for now..
|
RE: Westin Safari light bar
it is a very nice add-on... especially for the price.. I loved mine
|
RE: Westin Safari light bar
I have a question for you a_tack. Which brand of lights do you recommend for this? Good quality and reasonably priced. I'm not looking to spend afortune, but don't want something that I would want to replace. I see you have KC's on yours. I'v eread on here that the westin lights suck, but what about the Hella's.
|
RE: Westin Safari light bar
I actually hated my KC's... they are overrated. I have found that Pilot Automotive makes a very bright and durable 100W 6"light for its price. They are available at Auto Zone for about $20 each.... I currently have 4 of them... as this picture shows, they are whiter, and brighter than my headlights.... could not take a pic looking straight at them, the camera would not focus, plus it hurt my eyes..lol
http://photos-a.ak.facebook.com/phot...46040_7852.jpg Don't get me wrong.. KC Hilites are good lights.... they are just not worth the $100 + dollars they cost. There are lights just as bright and brighter for less money... plus I have had trouble getting KC Hilites to back their warranty... we are in a dispute now over a burnt out sealed beam bulb (no abuse wired correctly with their harness)... 33year warranty is B.S.... they dont wanna back it very good.. |
RE: Westin Safari light bar
i just got it all put on and it looks good.. i have hella 500s on mine and they are plenty bright for now.. to dark to take pics tho so ill get some tomorrow
|

RE: Westin Safari light bar
The best i've come up with is the 4WheelParts store off of academy but thats about it. Where in the area do you go off roading?
|
RE: Westin Safari light bar
good question... have no idea the best ive found is B Street 7 11 has a place behind there but its not that great other than a cupla good hills to climb..
|
RE: Westin Safari light bar
Ya the closest trail worth anything are in florissant... too dang far. Just wondering if you knew of anywhere closer. So who did you get the safari bar through?
|
RE: Westin Safari light bar
dont know where thats at.. i got it thru advance auto.. used to work for them and i still get my 20% off. :Dbut ya know it looks good and im happy with it.. so where you from around here?
|
RE: Westin Safari light bar
Northeast end of town, near powers and stetson hills. So who you with on base?
|
RE: Westin Safari light bar
i thought it was a 23 year warrenty. but dang that sucks about your kcs. I just bought 2 150 watt dayliters for 30 bucks, so i hope mine dont suffer the same fate. But hey, i guess you get what you pay for right?
|
RE: Westin Safari light bar
Im with 2-8 INF.. they just moved up here from FT Hood.. you know i might of seen that red blazer around town.. well if you ever see me stop and say hi haha
|
RE: Westin Safari light bar
Ft Hood eh? I got a buddy down there in the ACR, 3rd I think
|
RE: Westin Safari light bar
i was never down there... but thats where my unit got moved from to up here..
|
RE: Westin Safari light bar
Oh gotcha, so how much was that safari bar?
|
RE: Westin Safari light bar
I got my safari bar today and I was actually looking into buying the pilot ones. I've had pilot fog lights before and they were pretty god for the price. I think the price for the hellas and the kc's are too high. 20 bucks for a set is fine with me. I think I might get the ones with the chrome housing versus the plain ones. I don't like the covers they give you and the covers for the hella are not cheap either. Thank for the advice. i have made up my mind.
|
RE: Westin Safari light bar
I paid around 150 for the mount kit and the bar... I like the hella lights they are a good trusted brand. but who knows might end up switching later... I like lights i can run on the street also tho
|
RE: Westin Safari light bar
Here's mine with some blue super street fog lights. I just custom fitted the brackets to fit the boltys for the pilot lights and used a bigger washer and viola. Whatcha think? Lights aren't working yet, project for next day off.

RE: Westin Safari light bar
Wow that looks really good.
|
RE: Westin Safari light bar
That looks really good. I wonder what it would look like with two pairs of halo driving lights and halo headlights.... LOL
|
RE: Westin Safari light bar
Looks good man im bout to go wash mine and then ill get some pics of mine finally
|
RE: Westin Safari light bar
The thing that sucks now is that I have to go and buy a new wiring harness. I routed everything right (I've rigged up lights plenty of times) and when I flicked the switch, the switch lit up. So I knew that the power was going to the switch. Now, the drivers side light lit up, but the passenger side did not. I checked and rechecked for about 2 hours all the connections and nothing. I finally gave up and deemed it a bad harness. I'm going to stop tomorrow and buy one and then hook up all the lights on saturday. The harness for the fogs is in, just needs to be hooked up. I ran out of connections for extending the wires to the length.
|
RE: Westin Safari light bar
nice... I like the slimlight design..lol the safari bar makes it hard to mount something like a daylighter... its possible, but difficult to get it adjusted right.... Looking good man!
|
RE: Westin Safari light bar
Why dont you just build your own?? I perfer that then buying one then i know exactly how its wired u.. but then agian that just gives me a way to waste some of thetim i got on my hands :D
|
RE: Westin Safari light bar
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2653916/1scroll to the bottom of all the pics and the last like 6 are of the bar and lights..
|
RE: Westin Safari light bar
Looks good, I can't wait to install my Fog lights.
|
RE: Westin Safari light bar
Oh man ya'll got me itchin for one now!
|
RE: Westin Safari light bar
where ya from?? I got one less than 1 year old im tryin to sell..lol
|
RE: Westin Safari light bar
Looking good!
I think I might want to re-ground all my lights... as they're currently grounded to my brushguard... and sometimes I need to go give it a smack for them to come on, lol. The guard's been doing some moving... |
RE: Westin Safari light bar
So how difficult was mounting? Are the recover hooks still accessible through the gaurd?
|
RE: Westin Safari light bar
For me? Yep, the recovery hooks are nice and in the open, workin' good so far, at any rate...
|
RE: Westin Safari light bar
When I grounded my light for the safari bar, I found a stock ground right on the firewall on the drivers side right underneath the cowl strip. I just put a connector on the wire and added it to the ground that were already there.
|
RE: Westin Safari light bar
the install for the bar was only 10-15 mins... the lights.......... well thats a totaly diff story but im picky about electrical stuff so it all has to bee done right the first time but it got dark on me so its not done right just gotta shorten some wires no big deal just a matter of doing it..
