Axle swap
#2
Is it from a 2wd, or 4wd? It would help us when answering your question if you posted what your truck is as well. The 2wd axle is 3" narrower than the 4wd axle.
Technically it should bolt right in. I would highly suggest that you take the diff cover off and inspect it before you go through the trouble of swapping it in. You don't want to get it in there only to find out that it's shot or on it's last legs. Open it up, clean it, and if it's good fill it up with new fluid and you'll be good to make the swap.

Hold up guys, from what I have found is that the axles from a S-10 P/U 2WD are narrower than a blazer axle. I never found any info stating 4x4 axles are wider. there are 4x4 S-10's i just never looked at the axle width

the 4x4 axle is most definitely wider. depending on who you ask or who is telling, between 3 and 4 inches. plus it matters where you measure from. but i think its about 4 inches WIDER than 2wd rear axles. hence the off-set in the rims. if you look at the 4x4 rims, they are almost flat on the outside, the 2wd rims have a big dish in them to make up the difference. if you put a 4wd rear axle on a 2wd truck with 2wd rims, the tires will be sticking waay outside the wheel wells.
everything that i have read says that all the axles are just bolt ons. but you may have to figure out a parking brake depending on what you go with. and if you are planning on running 31's (like from your other thread) with a 3.73 gear, you wont have a problem. it works about to about 3.50. no problem considering they shipped some of these with 3.42's.

Thanks Twip for the info. So in all there are 3 different axles to choose from....?
Standard s-10 axle.
Blazer axle either 4x4 or not same width.
Then the ZR-2 axle.
The zr2 axle is what im currently running and its definatly wider than stock blazer axle...
