So a friend of mine has a 69 Datsun truck and it came with a ford 260, he rigged up a turbo setup and it's not pushing out much power but it's pretty fun. He said he'd sell it for $400 because he's putting a vw vr6 in it. Anyway would it be possible to bolt that 260 up to the 700r4 with the 4x4? I don't care if the 4x4 functions anymore but would everything else work ok drivetrain wise?

 

Anything is possible but it certainly wouldn't be cheap, easy, or practical.

 

You might find a Mustang or Falcon owner who might appreciate the 260 block for their cars.

 

I think he said it came out of a Fairlane but I'm not sure. I'm guessing the engine has to be out of a 4x4 vehicle, I'd seen some threads about 4x4 delete thought it might be possible to just remove some things to basically disengage it.

 

I'm pretty sure the 260 was put in pre-65 Fairlanes, Comets, Mustangs, and perhsps even some Broncos.
