Default Heat Only Works on Full Blast

Hey everybody,

I could not find anyone with a similar problem as to what I am having with my 2000 GMC Jimmy Diamond edition. The Jimmy has the climate control ***** and I have to turn it to 82 degree (max heat) to get any hot air. If I back it down one click (80 degrees), cool air blows out....Blower motor seems to be working fine and the problem exists on automatic heat too. Had a computer hooked up to it by a shop and they said it was calling for "max heat" on the max setting, but if turned down a click then it would call for the lowest air conditioning setting. They recalibrated it and the problem still exists. Hopefully that makes sense?

So far I have replaced the:
- Climate control module
- Blend door actuator
- Flushed the heater core
- Ambient air temperature sensor behind the grill of the truck

I am lost and all my go to mechanics are lost as well...any help would be great!

Thanks,
Justen

I feel like there is an interior temperature sensor... let me see if I come onto something, or if someone else knows...

I have a problem similar, but am not sure if its vacuum related... as I haven't addressed that issue yet...

I believe the interior temp sensor is located under the little speaker looking grille on the headliner just to the left of your head when you’re sitting in the drivers seat. All trucks have the grille but only ones with climate control have the sensor underneah

does the blower motor work on all different settings? Or also only on full blast

I am not familiar with the climate controls systems on these vehicles (or others for that fact) but the wife's (not mine) MOPAR is weird. If you get too warm and turn the heat back, you don't just cut back on the heat, you turn the A/C on until the cabin reaches the set temp and I am clueless as to where that sensor is. To me it's just more junk to go bad that I do not need.

Blow motor increase and decreases as you turn the ****. It is just solely the heat output that is not working. Very confusing....I might try that interior sensor that was mentioned above

Just an update, I tested Ohms and a hair dryer for changes on the:

ambient air sensor (behind the grill) and it was good
cabin air sensor (top left above driver's head) and it was good
Sunset sensor seems to work because headlights go on and off as well (unless I am missing something here)

Any other ideas or things I can check?
