Lightbulb Hydrogen Generator (HHO) system?

Anybody use/build one of these? I've been pineing over it for awhile and I think I'm gonna take my chances and build one. I removed my A/C pump awhile back and was gonna put another alt there anyway so I figured I could wire it up to the Hydro Gen and increase my MPG's. From what I've read/who I've talked to it's a pretty legitamate system and you can see anywhere from 25-60% increases in mpg's due to the fact that Hydrogen is contains a LOT of energy & Oxygen is neccessary for combustion. Anybody build one/buy one? Comments/Concerns/Opinions?

Use the 'search' for the other threads on this subject, but "Mythbusters' busted it quite awhile back.

One of the guys that goes to the church that I go to put one on his Avalanch. He is now getting the almost the same gas mileage as his 1-2 year old Carolla. It does improve gas mileage... but he also had to mess with the computer to get the best results.

I've seen more scientific studies saying its snake oil than I've seen proving it to work.

The only people that claim it does work are the suckers that have large amounts of cash thrown away and most of them want you to buy a set of plans. By the time you spend all the money to get halfway close to decent gas mileage you coulda just went and bought a beater metro to cruise in.

I've seen videos that show people that use their HHO gen's as blow torches which kinda shows how much energy is stored in Hydrogen. The only thing I've read that makes it inefficient it the fact that it requires a large amount of current (anywhere from 15-40 amps) to get the desired amount of HHO gas (i.e. at least 2L/min for a 6 cylinder), that's where the second alt comes in =). Does anybody remember what Mythbusters episode that was?

So, I totally watched some clips from that episode... There were 2 key problems with the build Adam & Jamie did. 1.) The water you put in the generator HAS to have some sort of electrolyte, normal water is a very poor conductor of electricity. This is why people add salt or Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH or "lye"). 2.) The amount of electricty they put into the electrodes wasn't nearly enough to create enough gas to make a difference. Most HHO Generators use anywhere from 10-60 amps of electricity, and the general rule of thumb is 1.5L/min per 4 cylinders (i think).

No offense but sounds like typical response to me. Every time its proven to be horse crap you hear 900 ways that kit was wrong and why this kit is better. If the tech was there and this actually worked don't you think major car manufactures would have already picked up on it or are you a conspiracy theorist and wanna say they won't cause they are in with big oil and they trying to keep us down. Simple fact is dang near every car manufacture has looked into this and decided there are better ways out there than to waste time on this.

If you wanna waste your money go right ahead but if they really worked don't you think more qualified people than the guy on the back row of the flea market would be marketing these?

There's no offense, i totally hear what your saying, but think about this, Why is it that companys like Lamborghini, Ferarri, Porche, Mercedes, BMW all have amazing cars & a s*** ton of technology that goes into them? I mean, when's the last MAJOR overhaul any American company has done to the gasoline engine? The above mentioned companies have all gotten crazy numbers out of relatively small engines. I believe it's all a matter of dealing with change, car companies know that most people in America don't like change and that's why there hasn't been a huge "Remodel" to the gasoline engine. They make money either way, but it's easier to dismiss something then to put the money into R&D. Just my opinion.
