onboard air 4.3L
I'm looking to put an edc in my truck, anyone done one while maintaining factory ac? Would love to see pictures as well as any tips you may have. I would prefer a york 210, or 209 but I think due to clearance reasons I might have to use a sandan or try and find a super compact york...
I have a 3" body lift so I don't know if I can clear the york compressor beside my alternator like most people due.. if you have this style, would it be possible to check for clearance? I am aware the overflow must go and computer mount would have to be made.. I already have a 5 gallon tank which I can mount under the body between the frame and driveshaft, have already checked for clearance and will fit great. Also have an airhorn, now I just need air:D I don't want electric!! or I would not be posting this. Electric compressors are easy to install but don't put out enough air to run air tools. I drive a 2001 GMC Jimmy 4.3L 4x4, 3" body lift... so 4.3 vortec |
no one is running an engine driven compressor as well as retaining factory a/c?
|
I can't say as I have ever seen an s-series on here with an engine driven compressor.

I'm just trying to do that too.
I think I'll go to the scrapyard on friday and look for a ac compressor. I think I'll go with a sanden... |
My 93 has the ac compressor converted to a air pump and my front bumper is a tank but the ac don't work anymore. I gutted all that stuff a while ago. I've had that set up for a few years and really havenet neeeded it on the trail

Could you please post some pics of that?

I think I'll go with a sanden... make sure you put an inline oiler to oil the sandan, or at minimum squirt some oil in it fairly often. Sandan's are much easier to find room for and pump very similar air. but don't have much for internal oiling like the york's do |
