performance/gas milage
I have a 2001 checy blazer W/ the 4.3 v6 eng in it and I am looking for some improvments that I can make too Improve the performance some as well as improve the gas milege I have heard a few tips but also heard that they are a waste of money so I am trying to get more input.
1) cold air intake system
2) changing out my stock clutch cooling fan to a dual efan setup
3) taking some plate piece off of my butterfly in the TB
any help woud be appreceated keep in mind I dont just have money to burn and also I do not use this vechicle for hp activites such as racing, four wheeling, mudding and things like that

The best performance mod you can do is get your pcm tuned. But do some searching, it will keep you busy for hours. Don't waste your time with the butterfly mod, IMO.

i have a 99 chevy blazer 4x4, before i did any mods to mine i was getting 190-200 a tank. i now get about 245-250. all i have changed is k&n cold air intake, dynomax exhaust, gfchip. i think the exhaust made the biggest diff. the blazers come stock with to big of a muffler and restricts alot of power. thats all i have done so for to improve my mpg. hope this info can help you.

next part of this is when I first start the blazer and start driving even if it is the first time for the day as I accelerate my fan makes this loud noise that sounds like a tornado up till the first shift point and then it goes away I also hear the same thing after been sitting and idling for a bit an the temp is up around 210 is this normal or is it the fan clutch going out

your question for noise
the old clutch fans engaged when the engine was cold and then loosen up or well disengaged when gets up too operation temp, nothing too worry with u can get a hold of fan with gloves on of course with engine off and try too go side to side too make sure no play if u think its going out and check for play.. me personally dont like clutch fans id rather find a ford taurus 3.8 electric fan and wire it in they roughly do over 2100cfm or so not bad for stocker and price for new one that flows good cfm.. the weird thing is ive never heard the clutchfans engage with temps at 210 i could be wrong but that dont seem right there bud

well second thought
you said the fan engages when in traffic when typically when one gets hotter thats normal becouse it brings in more air too cool down engine becouse of the bimetallic strip that our engine fans use instead of the newer electronically controlled kinda like a thermostat, so if its constantly doing alltime id make sure its not trying too overheat, if it just does it in traffic id get u a 180deg thermostat and u shouldnt hear it engage no more in traffic, most stock are 195 which is great for winter heat purposes but summer it gets hot quickly but yet with 180 u still have good heat if needed but this is my epinion.
