That is a great explanation.

What you described was how I thought it all worked but with much more detail. Being pretty nerdy myself I appreciate that. I also very much appreciate knowing why something does what it does instead of just getting instructions for what to do.

For my Blazer, I am happy with keeping its performance stock. Those performance chips would only run it harder which would shorten the engine's life.

Thanks, I think we would be a good team in a garage

Like you I also document what I do. I like printed service manuals for that to take notes and insert drawings or pictures. Helps a lot when you have to do something again that had been documented years ago.

And from my job I know it's usually of more benefit to teach the how's and why's which enables someone to figure even a non specific problem instead of telling them: "on that machine it works that way" and when they stumble upon something different they have to re-start the learning.
