Default 2010 Ride of the Year Vote!

With the last ROTM for 2010 complete, it's time to dub this year's Ride of the Year. Last year's ROTY winner was nj4x4blaze (Dave) and he has been sporting his custom user title all year. While his title will remain for 2009, it's time to choose from this year's ROTM winners to dole out a new custom user title and bragging rights.

Here are your contenders, in chronological order:

January 2010: foxxie

Bought in January 2009 as used Japanese import Chev blazer LS RHD 4.3 4x4 @ 58,000 km's & I'm the 1st registered New Zealand owner.

Spent the first 2 days of having her hand cutting, waxing & changing the fluids.

Over the past year I've
*put in a JVC cd reciver & 2 pocket dash insert
*had a rear towbar installed
*put on new tyres [tires] 9R15LT Bridgestone Desert Duelers
*fitted cold air intake
*installed front nudgebar & fitted front foglights
*painted out headlight bezels & bowtie chrome strip.

February 2010: swartlkk's 74 K5

Stats:
1974 K5 Blazer
350cid v8 with TH350 transmission
Long tube headers into 2.5" dual exhaust
NP203 full time transfer case with the part time conversion
Dana 44 front - GM Corp 12-bolt rear - 3.73 gears
3" body lift to fit 33x12.5 tires - minor fender trimming.

Other upgrades include a 14BFF swap for the rear axle as well as an 8-lug conversion on my Dana 44. I already have the 14BFF (free) and paid $30 for a 3/4 ton Corp 10-bolt front axle to pull the spindles on out off of for use on my truck.

I also have a set of rust free (mostly) rear quarters, some extra doors, and a rust free tail gate. I need to get the sheetmetal to patch up the floor boards & rockers properly as well. Once that is all in, it will be time for the finish body work and paint.

When I bought my 1998 Blazer in the fall of 2009 it was bone stock. I started modifying it soon afterwards...

Yes, I really am running 15"x10" wide wheels... along with 31"x10.50" BFG AT's. I would love to run bigger tires but I just can’t do it without more lift.

2" Rough Country suspension lift: The 2" Rough Country suspension lift proved to be a real pain at first because I made the mistake of trying to get too much lift out of the front which caused all kinds of havoc.

2" Performance Accessories body lift: The body lift was the best money spent in my opinion.

Trimmed fenders: I trimmed the front wheel wells with a hacksaw (I have a thread on this) to keep the tires from banging into them... turned out to be a very easy modification.

2" Rear wheel spacers: I only run these for looks... I just wanted my rear tires to stick out a little further.

Fender flares: I got the fender flares from LMC truck and modified them a bit for my own taste.

Surco Safari rack: This item cost me about $500 but I actually use the heck out of the thing. I keep my Hi-Lift jack and shovel up there and there is extra room for whatever else. It also makes a great mount for my off-road lights!

The engine is stock and sports a K&N air filter with free flow exhaust.

I have an anodized aluminum brush guard that I got used from a guy for $150.

I have all 6 of my off-road lights wired and working for those late night adventures!

Purchased truck in 2003 with 50,000kms on the odometer. Put another 150,000kms of highway under it over 4 years, while driving a daily commute. Put it in the paddock with some of my other rides, and started to work on it a couple of years later. Doesn't get more than 5,000kms/year these days, as I use it primarily for SCUBA diving in out-of-the-way places, and the occasional snow storm or mud bath.
