Michigan blazer GTG #2

Bey guys I thought I would start another thread on a second trip back to the mounds sometime in late Sept or really early Oct.

Also this trip would not be for just blazers. Bring ur friends Jeeps, trucks, Toyota's and anything else that can hit the trails. Same as the last one if you plan on going plan on bringing a dish to pass. Check out the pics of the first gtg an you will see, its a blast.

EzTec 07-22-2010 12:31 AM

It really is a blast to go there. I would recommend everyone bringing some heavy duty straps this time. lol. Nothing worse than breaking a strap while out on the trails. Also, if anyone has a wench, it might make things much easier.

I think the best time would be as early as possible. So, mid-late September over early October. It gets chilly mighty fast here in Michigan, so the earliest the better. Also, because they are only open til sunset, the earlier the better due to less sunlight. Also, Saturday seems like the best time to go. If we go on a Sunday, it's bound to be packed with other trucks (Sunday's are truck days).

Count me in! I'll try to get my mini bike up and running and bring it with me. That'll be a blast.

sIcK dAiLy DrIvEr! 07-22-2010 09:18 AM

OK. Sept 18 and 19. I will be celebrating my bachelor party there and we can camp across the street. I will be bringing some of my friends and I invite everyone going to bring some of thiers. Lets bring.g every truck out that we know. The bigger the better. I hoe that date works for everyone. Let me know. PM me.

MTopper 07-22-2010 09:50 AM

sounds like a plan to me. i'll join and maybe get some of the road warriors around me to actually use their truck

TreasonAgainstCaesar 07-22-2010 11:56 AM

I'm going to try for this one.

I agree on the straps. And for those that don't have a tow point in the rear, these can make things a lot easier--
http://www.amazon.com/Rampage-8610-D...9817827&sr=8-1

They're only $31 shipped from amazon and they're a lot easier than trying to wrap the strap around the hitch tube when the truck is already stuck. You just need a 5/8" hitch pin to go with it (less than $5).

sIcK dAiLy DrIvEr! 07-22-2010 01:13 PM

Those would be good if you have a hitch. In my case I don't have a hitch. So I wrap a chain around.d the frame. LOL! Hope everyone can make it.

EzTec 07-22-2010 07:32 PM

I don't have a hitch either, but I also don't get stuck. I haven't gotten stuck yet (knock on wood).

I have a loan coming in very soon, and I plan on getting some stuff done to my truck. I don't think the front brakes work, because the backs were brand new 3 months ago, and I just had to replace them. So, I'll have to check the calipers and see if they are seized or not. Also, I need to get my gas gauge fixed. It's a grounding issue I'm sure.

Along with getting my truck fixed, I also plan on getting my minibike done. Who knows, maybe I'll let some of you ride it. =)

sIcK dAiLy DrIvEr! 07-22-2010 08:47 PM

OK so what is every one plan on bringing. I can bring the burgers and dogs again along with some pop.
Eztec, could you bring that awesome grill again.
And mtopper, could you bring the same stuff as last time.

sIcK dAiLy DrIvEr! 08-01-2010 08:40 PM

so is everyone still in for the 18th of september.

MTopper 08-01-2010 11:57 PM

i don't see any problems as of yet with the 18th, but i'll be in class then so i'll get back to you about it. if i can make it, i'll bring all the fixings along with chips, and 2 things of pop.

EzTec 08-02-2010 08:26 PM

I shouldn't have any problems either. It's far enough in advance that I can plan ahead. This time, I won't be going solo. I'll see if my girl can come, or maybe my dad and uncle. I have to get in touch with them to see. I won't ask until we get closer to the day.

Also, I will, without a doubt, have my mini bike done before then. The problem is transporting it there along with my grill. I'm sure it'll work out. I'll keep ya posted.

MTopper 08-03-2010 08:43 AM

roof rack that grill!!!!! haha, no i know you won't, its too nice of a thing to risk up there

sIcK dAiLy DrIvEr! 08-11-2010 07:51 PM

Well guys I may or not be going. If my silverado is drivable then ya I will go but I am planning on selling the blazer. I know what everyone is thinking. Why. Well I need a better daily driver that is not breaking down all the time. Its on craigslist right now so of anyone is interested in it then shoot me a pm. Ill give you guys a deal. So I will let y'all know if I am for sure going.

I'll roof rack the spare tire! Why didn't I think of that? Geez. lol.

By the way, the mini bike is almost done. I need to get a gasket to replace the one that I broke for the rear axle and it's done. I'm getting super excited.

MTopper 08-12-2010 01:48 AM

james, i'm not going to say what i really think but.... its ok, we'll forgive you

sIcK dAiLy DrIvEr! 08-20-2010 07:00 PM

sorry guys not going to make it this time. i still have the blazer as of now but there is a mud rum out in allegan county bout 30 miles from my house that i am planning on going to if i still have the blazer. i will try and stay in touch with you guys and let me know how meet #2 goes. if there is one. post more picks of frodo getting stuck.

EzTec 08-21-2010 02:37 PM

I plan on going that day, so anyone else planning on going, say so now.

EzTec 09-06-2010 10:21 PM

With less than a couple weeks away from the meet, I'm curious as to how many people are going. Sound off like you gotta pair!

MTopper 09-06-2010 11:28 PM

i am not sure yet if i can or cannot make it. i believe i have 2 tests that monday/tuesday and a family birthday that weekend but i'll try for one of them

EzTec 09-11-2010 07:36 PM

Literally one week away, and I'm not sure if anyone is going. I am, without a doubt, going. My girlfriend, one of my best friends, and my cousin are all going with me. I'll be bringing my grill/cooler and I'm going to stuff that with hotdogs, drinks, and condiments. So, if anyone is going, let me know so I can get enough food for everyone.

MTopper 09-12-2010 12:14 AM

i can't. i'm coaching football this fall which is a 6 day a week thing. take some pictures and make me jealous. maybe you'll see the stupid jimmy again

EzTec 09-13-2010 11:28 PM

For those who will be going, I plan on getting to the park at around 12:30 this Saturday. I will be bringing my grill, hot dogs, buns, condiments, drinks and other what-nots. If you would like to bring some extra dogs and buns, please feel free.

TreasonAgainstCaesar 09-14-2010 11:20 PM

I really wish I could make this... the blazer needs some work (shocks and idler arm at the minimum) and I don't have time or money to do either just yet. :(

EzTec 09-19-2010 12:35 AM

I just got home from The Mounds. It was a group of us that went in my truck. My girlfriend, cousin and my buddy Justin. We had a blast. I got stuck twice, got pulled out, twice. Almost flipped the truck. I'll have pics up soon. But, as for now, I'm going to bed, because I'm exhausted.

MTopper 09-19-2010 05:58 PM

how did you almost roll? i want to see your stuck shots.

DKSDAD 09-19-2010 06:42 PM

Can't wait to see the pics.

EzTec 09-20-2010 07:15 PM

Well, as promised, here are some pics. It was pretty sloppy out. We had lots of rain come through and make it really wet, so not a lot stuck to the side of the truck. I even took off the mud flaps, in hopes that it would make the truck look nice and muddy. Darn.

Here's a nice aerial view from the rock climb:

This is shortly after getting back to the gazebo for a break:
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...G/100_0180.jpg

Here we all are posing for a pic. Me in the back, with my girl in the yellow, my buddy Justin and my cousin to the right:

My girlfriend playing with the mud:

My girlfriend having some more fun playing with the mud:

And well, last but certainly not least, my stuckness. Yea, it pretty much sucked. lol. Almost rolling it is not what I had in mind. I'll start from the beginning; I was taking the high ground trying to get past the huge ruts in the trail. I knew that I wouldn't be able to get through the low ground due to the fact that it was so deep. Well, as I was traversing the high ground, the ground actually gave way, and I slid in. I hit so hard, that I almost flipped. Luckily, it didn't, but still. Pretty freakin scary. Here's the pics:

This is shortly after everyone got out of the truck. I went into the back to get the recovery rope I got:
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...7_439795_n.jpg

Here's a good front view of what it looked like:
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23..._4499432_n.jpg

I had to get a little wet. I stepped into the rut to recover my recovery rope that I dropped into the slop:
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23..._6821256_n.jpg

And finally, this is me getting pulled out of my predicament. I have the recovery rope on my driver side tow hook, and my passenger side tow hook is anchored to a tree, and you can see some guy and my buddy Justin try to put weight on the top so it doesn't flip:
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23..._1895534_n.jpg

It was seriously a crazy moment. I could rock the truck back and forth with just one hand. Luckily, very minimal damage. Only a small dent in the driver side rear quarter panel. As I was getting pulled out, the truck listed to the left, and all I saw was a wall of mud and water. I was so scared. I almost had to change my underwear. lol.

It was certainly a great day off roading. I had lots of fun.

NewFirstGen 09-20-2010 07:56 PM

You're the only one that showed up?? Dont feel too bad, I have had a similar thing happen.

blueblazer1982 09-20-2010 09:41 PM

you guys should go to silver lake sometime. i'd go if you went there. the mounds are a good trip for me

EzTec 09-20-2010 10:46 PM

Silver Lake is a huge drive for me. It would probably take me about 3 hours to get there, easily.

MTopper 09-20-2010 11:03 PM

i was in Romeo coaching a football game that day so i had no chance to make it...

I haven't heard from Derek in a long time.

Sickdailydriver sold/is selling his blazer.

sIcK dAiLy DrIvEr! 09-21-2010 08:11 AM

Well looks like you had fun. Sorry I couldn't make it. Just to let you know.... you Aint rolling over until the mirror is rubbing the ground. I still have the blazer but the tires are shot and I think I have a Guy coming today to come and pick it up. 3 grand in the bank. Next thing to buy is a new silverado.

EzTec 09-22-2010 08:45 PM

Oh, and I forgot to mention my new addition to my truck. The vent shades. I just installed them a couple weeks ago.
