Actually, I am going to go with the motor out of my camaro, it is already a turn-key stock 1977 model 350 with alt, pwr steering pump, and water pump. Maybe 200 horses at the most, but easily 300-350ft/lbs of torque. I will still be able to use the stock rearend and front diff. Its not going to be a hot rod, but something to take it easy with on the trails and have fun with. It was an emissions motor from an Oldsmobile Delta 88. It has about 150k on the motor, but I took the heads off and reseated the valves, checked the bearings and put valve stem seals in it, it fires up on the first lick and doesn't smoke the least! Oh yeah... I will make damn sure to re-route the breather lines for the tranny, trans case, front and rear dif. I dont want that mud **** happening again!

Yeah definitely find out how deep it is before ya go divin in the pit next time. Disassembling, cleaning and repairing everything after a dunk in a oops-too-deep mudhole can suck. I guess it makes for a real good excuse to upgrade your rig though.

OK, I FINALLY got it back up and running! I found a trans/torque converter and transfer case for $150 on craigslist! Talked to the guy and found out that it had about 20k on a rebuild! Stuck it in two days ago and got everything tied up, then took it down the road. The first little bit i though it was going to hang in first like my old one, but after driving it a bit and getting some fluid through her she loosened up and is shifting fine! Uwharrie, here I come for my revenge!!!!

Glad you got yours straightened out.

I need to replace the motor mounts in mine...the drivers side is popping bad.
