General ChatChat about all things Blazer (and related vehicles). Off-topic stuff should be in the lounge, and all mechanical problems should be posted in the proper forum.
I have always been told that a harder shift is actually better for the transmission.
I was told that a soft shift actually just allows more slippage in the plates and actually will cause them to wear out sooner.
It makes sense but that harder shift can be difficult to get used to.
That was our old 1999 GMC Savanna van. The mechanic put in a corvette valve body when he rebuilt it.
I still miss that van, the old 350 was a great engine.
It had 242,000 miles on it when my wife lost it on some ice and ran it head first into a cement barrier wall.
Radar; a harder shift is better. less slippage and therefore less wear on clutch packs. but that is when you have modded the trans to have a firmer shift. i thought that the OP donl wanted a smoother shift, but had on its own, gotten too firm. that indicates a problem with the trans.
