WOW. Yes they knew it was happening. I know you're on s10forum, look around there for anything related to dragging. It's a lot of work to bag the rear of a Blazer so yes, they were cheating by having a drop hitch as the drag bar. Bagged trucks usually drag the frame or a drag bar.

Yeah spark showers were the cool thing to do for a while. It's on purpose. Still a fail? Maybe. Just another kinda stupid "car fad" like wings and fart cans were in the 2000's
