Default oem amplifier

I have a 2001 blazer xtreme and cannot locate the factory amp. I've checked behind glove box and center console and under seats with no luck. any help will be appreciated. problem is volume only at low volume and distorts after quarter way up. new head unit and all new speakers ugh

I've never seen an S10 EVER with a factory amplifier...

I know the Blazers and Jimmys with the Bose system has one in the rear quarter, but that's ONLY with the Bose stereo option, which was not a common option to be honest.

Sounds too me like other issues are at fault, possibly wiring somewhere either in the power to the radio or in the speaker wiring. A shorting wire in one speaker will make the built in amp in the head unit act all kinds of wonky and introduce distortion.

What kind of head unit did you install, factory replacement or aftermarket? What speakers did you replace, just the front doors speakers or the ones in the top of the dash too?

It is a blazer xtreme with a factory BOSE radio and I replaced all the speakers. I will check the rear quarter for an amp.

Do you have an s10 blazer, and someone put the xtreme kit on it? I've seen a lot of those, but dont remember the blazer xtreme... could be wrong...

it's all good, they factory lowered them 2 inches and added ground affects to appeal to the younger generation. I'm hoping there is a factory amp in the back, I will check tomorrow.

I don't know why I had my mind on S10 :P Guess that's the first thing I think of then I here the Xtreme talked about, I forget about the Blazers for some reason lol.

Correction. Check this out

I believe I'm thinking of the on star communication module that's located in the right side rear inside quarter of the Blazers, mostly the Bravada that had the system.
