I've been thinking that when the time comes I might look into adding more ribs to the roof. Also read that some people put 1/4 MDF and sound deadner under their headliner.

Yeah, but if this would be a daily driver I wouldn't put that much work into it. If you really wanna sound deaden it for cheap, go out and buy a bunch of cans ofspray on bed liner/ or underbody coating. Take your interior out, and start spraying the hell out of it.
Some people even line the inside of their box with concrete( I wouldn't reccomend this though, as your box would weigh like 500 pounds.)
The main thing you will want to worry about is making sure your windshield is sealed good still. And your hatch window/side 1/4 wing windows(if 2-door)as well, as you'de be losing pressure from those spots. Even possibly your doors too, but agagin, if its for daily driving I wouldn't worry too much about it.
