best picture I could find of it but i mounted a cobra 19 cb radio where my tape player was. It fits nicely in that spot |
I wish I could say a nice xm satelite radio with cd player but for now its empty
|
I pulled mine out but am deciding what I want to put there.
|
I think I will cut my console off just past the cupholders and mold it in with fiberglass or sheetmetal. I dislike the fact my leg rests against it, I'd prefer it not be there at all.
|
i left it in place and hard wired an aux input into it for my ipod
|
Thinking about installing my tomtom GPS just for ****s and giggles or a mount for my smart phone with audio aux connection.
|
Mine actually came with an AM/FM/CD player, but I've replaced it..
https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...ine=1366774275 Still deliberating on what to do with the the space under the head unit. I was thinking of some flip up switches for when I install additional lights, or maybe a scanner. My CB won't fit in there, even without the head unit... I have a Connex 3300HP. I'm going to mount it to the floor... I had the notion to use nutserts, but I think I'm just going to go with set screws for it, instead. |
Hey guys new here no pics just yet bit in the cassette slot in the center console i mounted my bass knob, my line driver knob and my voltmeter.
|
put my cb in the spot as well
|
a WORKING tape deck :)
|
Glad my first post has some replyies. I'm thinkn i wanna put a digital volt meter down there maybe
|
Replaced mine with a free Alpine removable face radio I got from a customer at work when he traded in his PT Cruiser.
|
I have a premier pioneer radio it came with my jimmy when I got it so I don't know much about it.

The adapter kit I bought made it plenty long to reach down there. |
I made a plate for switchs for lights, the face plate of the tape player was rattling so in the trash it went

Pioneer stereo. Not shore what model but it's one that has the full equalizer. It's a trip how precise It can be! I have an 89 blazer LT

If I had the Rig I wanted (like a late 70's) I'd put 2 cigarette power ports and maybe a window. Or if I could find one a 2 knob with usb input. but since I have an 01 I think I'm going to put in an amp with no head unit, and rig some kind of a docking port for a small tablet, with GPS and a music app. if that makes sense.

Cassette Swap
Thinking of putting in a plate with three powered goosenecks coming out for phone/tablet/gps hookups. I think it would give me the most options and still look ok. Just got it last week and I already hate the stock cassette deck.

I epoxied a peice of ABS on to the trim piece that went around the tape deck. I added a USB / AV socket. I plan on adding a knob for my sub and the switches for my heated seats.
Attachment 30795 I did a write up on this in my build thread. |
Nice work! Those look like seat switches mounted on the console. What's in the middle?
|
Those are the switches for my seat heaters with my Sirius mounted on the middle.

My 2001 ZR2 came with the Bose option and had a cd player as well as a 6 cd changer in the armrest. I took them borh out and replaced them with a touchscreen Pyle head unit. It took me three and a half months to find a double din bezel. Plus i had to source out the harness that allowed me to run the Bose speakers with it. Here in Edmonton they wanted $240 Cad. Ended up grabbing one online for $80. Shipped right to my door in less than a week. I'm running a Kicker amp thats pushing a 1200 watt Kenwood box alongside the Bose speakers and it sounds awesome.

I replaced the TPS on my TBI for my 89 S15 Jimmy which should roll the odometer to 500,000 miles sometime in Dec. I am thinking the first week as this is my daily driver and I am the original owner.
|
Well, I just typed a very detailed update........ have no clue where it went!
See you later... |

May I be "that guy" to BUMP this in more than a year.
Presently researching what is going to replace the very good - but could be better - aftermarket unit in my 96 Blazer LS. (EDIT: It is a JVC and my truck is at the shop so I can't snap a pic or go look right now. It is OK but it lacks Bluetooth and I need to replace it on that alone.) Summer is coming (so is spring) and this thing has to be fully upgraded. Just about top of the line... Thinking Sony, Apline or another JVC (I see a Sony unit I like. CD and Bluetooth I'm all set. I know some don't have CD but you may encounter someone with a CD so....) for the head unit Already has an adapter, yeah, but I think I am looking for "Single DIN fit"? Also looking for the size of front and rear in the door speakers on my 96. I am thinking Alpine S, Apline R, or Memphis Audio.. possible Cerwin Vega but I'm thinking more one of the first three with an amp. |
