Default 1996 s10 blazer solid axle swap

i got a 1996 4x4 s10 blazer and i was thinking bout a solid axle swap has any one here done this successfully or know what is to be done. the rear axle is not the original it is off a 1985 s10 blazer so i don't think i can use the 4x4 i belive it is different gear ratios. any suggestion, tips or advice would be appreciate

Many people have performed the ol SAS...
You say the rear end is a different gear ratio? So I am assuming that you already have a solid front axle? Just get a matching gear set for the rear.
Dont forget about adapting your current front hub assemblies so as to retain wheel bolt pattern and anti-lock brakes.

i have a 2000 s10 that im still working on but the sas is done. there are a few different ways of doing it i went with a leaf spring set up with full size axles however you have to use a ford front axle in order to keep the driver side drop transfer case. im running a 14bolt in the rear and a ford hd44 in the front. you also have to do some modifications to the trans cross-member and exhaust in order to install a drive line.

i have an 88 s10 blazer i sas. im running a hp dana44 in the front out of an old ford truck and a dana44 rear out of a wagoneer. if u wanna keep ur stock width u wanna go with a dana35 for the front and a dana30 for the rear. u can do either a leaf spring set up or coils. coils take more modifications, but is a better ride. im running leafs, but mines not a daily driver. and it also depends what u want to do with ur blazer. if u want to do it just for the looks then the 35/30 setup would be good cause those axles arent made to handle bigger tires than a 35 and they arent the strongest, where as the 44s can go up to 42s and are pretty strong. im running 39.5 with 5:39 gears and lockers in mine. its all ur own preference what u want to do. but u definately have to modify the crossmember and exhaust to make ur front driveline work. sas s10 blazers look badass and work well because of their weight and even distribution and short wheelbase. check out my pics here if u want.

you can also keep your rear axle and use a Toyota front axle but you would have to change out gears that was my original plan i didn't get as far as going that rout so im not sure if the axle withs are the same but if i remember they were very close and a Toyota front axle is stronger then Dana 35

yes but with a toyota axle ud have to cut it apart and weld it back together after flipping everything. they are the wrong side drop. or go with toyota just get a different trans case that will match up. ezr to go with a dana. and the bolt pattern on a toyota is 6 and the s10 is 5.

damm i forgot about that i was going to change both front and rear over to Toyota and go with a doubler my bad but its still an option changing the tcase is easy and Farley inexpensive but you still end up with a solid configuration in the end

toyota would be the way to go for sure, and a dana300 trans case is the way to go for that, but they arent cheap.

i was reading about a leaf spring SAS and Synergy Offroad says i can use a YJ front axle, if so can't i just use the rear also so i can have 4.11 gears without rebuilding anything? and what about driveshafts?

yes u could use them both. just have to retro fit them to the blazer. they wont just bolt in. but u know this. u also have to think about the size of tire u wanna run. dana 30 and 35 wont run bigger than a 35" tire. those r what most jeeps run, but sum yjs have dana 44 and they can handle bigger tires. as for drive shafts, depends how they bolt up compared to urs. u can just change yokes on the axles if need be. simple to do and cheap.
