If im wrong somone will correct me shortly but I would think the easiest way to do this (without tripping any service 4wd or ses lights) would be to just disconnect the vac line from the actuator and plug it (this stops it from engaging the front axle).

Ya the fuse would most likely be the best way but im not to sure either. I wouldn't disconnect the vacuum from the actuator though since your truck is going to 4low. If you disconnected that it would still go into 4low it just wouldn't lock the front axle in. so you would really be in 2low.

Just leave the system there and periodically use it so if you end up selling the truck, everything still works as it should. An unused 4wd system will eventually stop working.

If you do not use 4wd for anything, you may want to consider purchasing a 2wd vehicle and selling the 4wd one rather than devalue what you have...

You want to make a 4x4 into a 2wd?... its usually the other way around. Yea I agree that you should look into trading towards a 2wd. Then you dont have to worry about doing maintenance on the 4wd system.

Have you tried searching the forums? I believe I have seen this problem before, better to fix it then disconnect the system, one day you will curse when you actually need it.
