When i put my 2000 blazer 4x4 4 door into 4hi, the light blinks, blinks and blinks, then when i go into drive it clunks in and light stays on and i can tell it is in 4wd.
But i was wondering is this normal? or is there a problem, first owner of a blazer, so let me know.
Thanks

Most 4wd vehicles need a certain amount of movement to allow for the gear train to mesh. Having the transmission in neutral and the vehicle slightly rolling will help it engage. This is more often true when attempting a range change (e.g. from HI to LO), but also applies to the engagement of the front axle.

Alright cool, thanks, ya i was just wondering because my Ford F-150 supercrew 4x4, and it kicks in 4x4 no matter what, so i guess the blazer just needs a little roll to roll the hubs in lock,
Thanks

I think you can put it into 4hi while in drive... thats how its made.... you only need to shift into neutral for 4 lo...

Yes, that is the case. You can be driving down the road and kick it into 4HI from 2HI. It is always preferred to have it rolling a bit though.

Check your transfer case vacuum switch (if equipped). If it's stuck, calling for the front axle to engage all the time then the transfer case might have trouble switching into 4WD range. I went through a few 4WD fuses before I found the root cause of my problem - similar to what your's is doing.
