4wd hi not engaging

4wd hi not engaging
I have a 2001 blazer and when I go to put it in 4 hi it makes the sound as if its accuating into 4 hi but it doesnt engage and the light comes on like it is too. the 4 lo will work though. anybody have any idea what it could be?
