Default 4wd not working how to get it out of 4wd?

It seams like I am stuck in 4wd. When I turn my wheel all the way to the right or left my 99 blazer starts crab hopping. All three lights on the selector are lit and I cannot select anything. Is there a way I can force it out of 4wd and keep it in 2wd until I can get it fixed?

There should be a way to do this but I don't know them. It sounds like there is an issue with the transfer case or the circuits that control it. (OK, that was kind of obvious. LOL) There is a solenoid on the transfer case that people have to sometimes fix and then there is also the transfer case control module (TCCM) that can go bad. The TCCM is an easy fix and easy to access. It lives behind the left kick panel in the passenger compartment just forward of the door jamb. Some have reported that removing the plug and cleaning the electrical terminals can help. I had to replace mine.

Hopefully someone else can provide more detailed answers.

Unhook the battery for a bit and see if that works. Im betting its the tccm or the shift encoder motor.

Disconnect and plug vacuum line to front axle servo (located under under battery) until you can complete repairs. That will keep it from crab hopping.
