4WD vacuum solenoid problem
Hello,
I have a problem with my 2001 Chevy Blazer 4.3L LS imported from Japan so RHD. When I try to engage the 4WD with the buttons (4 button system) it keeps blinking. I have tried to use another solenoid, they both give a resistance of around 75 Ohm. Is this normal? I do get power on the solenoid connection. I tried to connect the vacuum hoses to each other. I do get 4WD then and the blinking stops so my actuator or transfer case work. Does anybody know of this problem and knows a solution? |
Is the transfer case control module (TCCM) working correctly? When they start to fail they will often have an excessive amount of clicking noise coming from them. It is located behind the right hand side kick panel on the US trucks.
|
I am not a 100% sure about that, when I bypass the solenoid and just connect the two hoses together the 4wd is engaged so it works. It seems that the solenoid isn't working but as the actuator isn't engaging either when using the buttons normally |
if you bypass the solenoid like you did and the 4x4 works as in the TCase is driving the front wheels than the solenoid is the problem.
|
What in the way of power do you get to the solenoid? 12V? Do you get the expected voltage when you depress the 4wd buttons?
|
I have also seen that solenoid stick and giving it a smack straightened it out for a bit.

Thanks guys! I have sprayed some cleaner in the solenoid and pushed the 4wd buttons several times and it started working! It must have been clogged up. The 4wd system hadn't been used for a long time by the previous owner. |
