Default 4x4 3 Button Switch Issues

98 4x4 with the three button switch.

The indicator lights on the switch are usually not lit and pressing any of the switches obviously does nothing. Seems strange, but sometimes when it is cold outside, the indicator lights on the switches will come on. Pressing the switch will allow it to change for 2WD to 4WD. I don't know why the cold weather comes into play, but it does.....

Suggestions as to where to start to fix my cold weather switch?

Search! Use the term "NV233" and read. MUCH has been covered and is at your disposal.
