i have a 1998 4x4 4door chevy blazer ls i just traded for about two days ago. everything works good except when i put it in 4hi or 4lo it locks in and goes for about 5feet but then it starts kicking out, ive had a 89 cherokee that did this and it was a broken vacuum line, and under the hood i found a T in the vacuum lines on the driverside that has two lines hooked up but the other end has blacktape over it, could this be my problem? and where is this line supposed to run to?

Probably goes to the vacuum cannister. On yours, I believe this is in the drivers side fender well (earlier models had a plastic ball hanging from the hood). It's tricky to find the nipple that this hose plugs into. Get a flashlight and mechanics mirror and look around...some pics are here.
When you say the 4WD kicks out, do you mean that all indicators seem to say it's in 4WD, but the front wheels don't turn? Or does the dash switch (I'm assuming you have one) go from indicating 4WD to indicating 2WD?
