i have a 98 blazer, had the same troubble. push the button and could hear it click like it was locking in. i found a hole in the vacume line from where it had been rubbing on the intake. that would be the first thing i would check.

I had the same problem I had a bad encoder motor and bad tccm. I swaped to a manual shifted 3 button case and used a clamp to actuate the plunger on the front diff.

ya i had the same problem with my blazer and looked online and basically do as the previous post said and check your fuses and your lines and the problem i found was the 4x4 accuator(i think thats what its called). its under the battery on my 02 zr2, the rubber/foam boot that holds vaccuum to the lines was busted and rotted away. i picked up a new one from auto zone for like $8. replaced and next time i pushed the button it lit up and engaged. hope this helps

ive got a 92. Ive changed the 4x4 actuator, vacuum switch, check for vacuum leaks, found none...have vacuum to the switch, and can hear the encoder motor....err...it makes the sound of it trying to engage but i havent felt any front wheel engagement.
also did the code check....
I have a code 2 but i hear the encoder motor working....do i just needed to reset it?
