Default 4x4 working is a sometimes thing

Hi guys new to the forum but not to blazers or chevys in general. i have a 1995 blazer with a np233 transfer case. It will go into 4wd sometimes but sometimes the light on dash will go on sometimes not. I tried disconneting the battery to reset the tccm and at one time this worked evertime. Now it only works once in awhile and not for long.It has good vacume and the lines seem good. Any ideas this is driving me nuts Thanks in advance for any help

Sounds like an encoder fault. Check out the post by error_401 found in the Tech Article (DIY) Index link in my signature below. You can also read up on the front axle engagement system discussed in the '4x4 no worky...' thread a link to which can be found in that same index.
