Default 8.5 cover on a 7.5??

Okay so I guess I messed up when I was ordering a differential cover and ordered a GM 8.5 cover by accident on amazon. Turns out upon further identification the rear axle is a 7.5. But here is my question. I took the cover and matched it up, measuring between bolt holes n all and it seems as if it will work. Has anyone attempted this or something I am missing? Worst case I just return the cover and get the 7.5. Don't want to mess anything up back there! Lol

Nope wont work. I went to the parts store the other day and compared the two gaskets; there's about a .25" difference in the height between the two. I don't know why I thought it might work. I guess I just didn't want to have to mail it back and have to pay a restocking fee for my stupidity haha. But I sent back the cover today and getting the correct one. G2 should definitely make a cover for the GM 7.5. That thing was very nicely built!
