Default 8.5" Rear End

I've seen three widths listed for S10 rear ends: 54.5" / 59" and 63" but can't find any axles listed for an 8.5 59" just the 54.5" 2wd and the 63" ZR rear end. Can anyone give me the parts number for the 8.5" / 59" rear end axles?

I dont have an answer for you there, but I can tell you the 8.5s in 4x4 non zr2s are few and far between. You'll be hard pressed to find one. I hear they were mainly found in manual transmission trucks... which are hard to find in 4x4 aw it is.

Your best bet(if you're looking to swap an 8.5 into your nonzr2 4x4) would be to swap a zr2 rear end in(as long as its 3.73 ratio matches your front diff ratio) they are a direct swap. And the added width actually brings the rear wheel track almost even with the front

From what I've read the ZR make the wheels stick out too far. Actually Ive been looking into buying an 8.5 / 3:42 / disc brake truck rear end. Ive seen them for $200, you can get axles for $200 and have the housing shortened $200. So for $600 you can have the gear, disc brakes and limited slip.

God has smiled on me...doing my daily search thru FB, Craigslist etc. when I saw an ad for an S10 4x4 rear end. A vague picture but I thought I detect a slight bulge at the axle housing. I ask for a picture of the rear cover plate and the rest is history. A 59" 8.5 w / gov-lock, don't know the gear ratio yet but I have the 3:42's and disc for it. He wanted $150 and I didn't argue. I'm sure he didn't know a 7.5 from an 8.5. This will go nicely with the L33, heck I might even do a cam swap!
