Default 95 blazer wont go into 4wd hi

i have a 95 blazer it wont go into 4wd hi,when you push 4wd hi you can hear the relays clicking like its working but light flashes a couple times then goes back to 2wd, but 4wd low works, also before you can try to put it in 4wd hi you have to have it in neutral i know that aint the way its designed to shift...any ideas....thanks in advance

if you are not having problems switching between 2hi and 4low then all ur electrical and vacuum lines would be ok, i would check to see what you get for volts at ur actuator when u press all the buttons and maybe that has something to do with it, if the other buttons give you 5 volts but the 4hi button gives you none then you have an actuator problem and if all the buttons are creating volts at the actuator then u probably need a new transfer case

if i disconnect the battery cable to reset computer it would go into 4wd high one time but not after i took it back out of 4wd hi...so u think it could be the 4wd shift motor

It is very likely that the transfer case encoder motor is at fault. I would recommend running through some of the steps listed in the various NV233 articles in the Tech Article section first before buying a new encoder though.
