Default 97 Blazer rear end clunk, bad locker?

hey guys. a friend has a 97 s10 blazer 4.3 166K thats got a horrible clunking noise coming from the rear end. i drove it yesterday and it sounds like something is broken in the rear diff. didnt drive far but it gets faster with speed and all so its definetly a driveline issue. i put the back end up in the air to check it out and started the truck. in neutral the wheels turn just like its in drive except the drivers side rear wheel was turning and the pass side wheel was not but it did click forward just a bit like the locker was trying to engage. either way i know the wheels shouldnt turn in neutral and you could also hear and feel the clunking and its definetly coming from the rear end. also theres a lot of oil leaking out from the front seal where the driveshaft connects to the rear. im thinking the locker is broken possibly? do the blazers have the infamous G80 like the 10 bolt full size chevys?
