Default '99 Blazer LT 4x4 Rear Differential question

Hi Everyone.

So recently the rear differential on my '99 Blazer LT 4x4 gave out and as you can imagine, I was given a huge quote from the dealership to fix it.

My Question is this: Is it possible for me to find a used rear differential off of another blazer and replace my broken one with it? There are a few blazers being parted out in my area so i'm confident I could find one.

I'm guessing (and hoping) that the short answer is YES. If it is possible, I am also curious if there is anything else I need to be aware of. Would it be a straight swap or do I need to search for the same year, make, model?

Any info offered would be appreciated. I love my blazer and I hate to see it parked right now with everything else working just fine.

I have exactly what you need sitting at my house. Same year and model. Nothing wrong with it. I use a ZR2 axle now. But yea, any blazer or s10 with a rear 3.42 will work.
