Can you capture this noise in a video and post it to Youtube or Photobucket?

well it's night time in Israel so I'll try to make it happen tomorrow. but in the mean time i can sharp my description - the noise goes along with the driving speed, when i let the gas off and the truck starts to slow down the clicking sound is slowing down along with the truck, and at very low speed it stops and you don't hear a thing, and let me add that even though i described it as dreadful it still very "organized" sound, it's a clicking sound that rotates along with the truck's axle rotation for example i suppose.

the test showing in the link above isn't clear for me. i'm pretty sure i didn't perform this the right way, probably because i didn't understood what i need to do? if i remember correctly - both of the wheels were turning to the same direction all the time no matter what i did, is this what was supposed to happen? or did got it all wrong?

Get your tire pressure set and go from there. See if it gets better.

It sounds like you are describing typical locker noise.

well I've opened the cover today and discovered that there's a gap between the locker itself and the housing, that should be filled by shims of course.
so i understood that I haven't put enough shims, so i got some more and filled the gap - but when i tried to rotate the component it was stuck, like the transmission was in parking or something. i doubled check everything and couldn't discover why the locker isn't moving. so i removed it again. now i discovered that the new bearings i got for the locker (the original ones were too small and wouldn't fit) have no space between the cap and the bearing itself so when you put the shims in they come in contact directly to the bearing itself instead of the cap, meaning that the locker was sitting in it's housing in a great deal of stress and there for it didn't move when i tried to rotate it. tomorrow I'll get some new bearings with the required spacing and I'll keep you updated if this was the reason for the excessive noise or not.

thanks for all your help so far, Yarin.

Ok, that answers it. There are lockers available that replace the spider gears in an open differential center section. Then there are lockers, like you have installed, that completely replace the differential center section.

How they get setup depends on which design you have.

Have you contacted the manufacturer? They have pretty good tech support.

ok.. another update.
first of all i am currently i touch with the supplier's tech support, parallel to the thread here, and i hope they'll be able to help me as well.
now, i got myself some new bearings that fit. today i reinstalled the locker to his housing with the new bearings and it was a perfect fit, with no stress at all, the locker was free and it all seemed to be going great. so i assembled the shafts and with the axle off the ground i started the engine and put it into drive. unfortunately once again when i let off the gas the ratcheting noise came back, and when i applied the gas again the noise stopped. the tires weren't on so the noise wasn't as loud but still, so i tried with the tires, still the same noise. i did the manual's test to check the locker and i'm pretty sure the locker is working fine, so i don't really know what is making the noise. by the way i didn't reset the pinion and the gear, or the backlash (i'm not sure i know how) because i left the same amount of shims as the original case, i hope that's not a problem. the locker seems to sit very well in his housing so..
any ideas? yarin.
