Default Axle question...

Morning all,

I was just having a quick question as to some axles. I know that the axles from a Jeep wagoneer are the one of choice or popularity, but I was wondering about a set of full size TJ axles. I had talked to a guy near where I live about purchasing them, but I am unsure if they would even really work out. I can buy the full set front and back since they will be upgrading to a stronger axle. So any answer would be great. And if they wouldnt work then no biggie.

Stock TJ axles up front are D30's and are weak. If you are planning on doing a SAS look for a D44 instead.

Depends on what your plans are for the truck. But yes, you can use them for a SAS, they just won't be a strength upgrade over what you have now.

I had decided to move away from those axles. I had figured that I would be able to find better for near the same price. Thanks for the help though guys.

Good call. If you plan on going through all the work of a SAS, there isn't much point, in my opinion, of going with a D30 in the front. Lifting it will be easier, but like was said above, there really isn't much strength improvement. Do it right the first time, with at least a D44.
