MOOG makes a good ball joint. I know there are other good brands, just cannot think of them right now. A search should turn up something though. I know it has been discussed before.

Moog, A/C Delco, TRW. All have lifetime warranty. Took me about 30-45 min to replace uppers. Just make sure you KEEP YOUR RECEIPT!

My Carquest balljoints have been holding up pretty good so far!
jk jk...the boots ripped, it looks crappy, and I have to pump grease in it constantly. Spend the money and do it right

Jack up your truck, take the wheels off. Unbolt the upper ball joint and hit the control arm with a min. 4lbs sledge. The ball joint should pop out. Feel it for play. if there is play, replace it, if not put it back together.

I have power performance ball joints and they are awesome. They have a 1 million mile warranty and have been tested against moog ball joints. They also use the same part numbers as moog so theirs no confusion.
