Default Can anyone identify my problem on this video?

I got this sound after installing wheel spacers and off roading.

I was checking the 12 and 6 o clock play which had no play and I saw that I could reproduce this weird noise by just turning the wheels so I recorded it.

Is this a bad wheel bearing or a CV axle??

Thanks

Is it coming from the wheel or trans axle

I don't think your axle is turning the same rotations with the wheel so my guess is stripped axle end splines or hub splines gone - prob both

if that's the case, grab the axle with your channel locks and hold it from turning and see if the wheel will turn

I held on to the center of the shaft and turned the wheel. It turned but the movement wasnt from the hub.. it was inside whatever thats covered by the rubber boot closest to the whee. Whatever is in there, its disconnected.

Cardone CV axles...

Just a little bit at the end.

To change this out, do I have to remove the hub assembly?

On mine - outer axle nut, then take the bottom ball joint and tie rod on that side out of the spindle then I had just enough room to swing spindle with hub off the axle and out of the way

Axle end at the diff is held in with a wire C clip on the axle you will see it on the new axle and on the old once removed from the diff, axle should pop out with a little perswasion, when reinstalling new axle make sure the axle is snapped into the diff solid, check out the splines in the hub for excess wear

Then I add some anti seize on the splines before installing in the hub and R&R every thing else, the outer nut if I remember right is torque to 115ft lbs but do a check on that as I really don't remember for sure
