Can anyone tell me what happened?
I'm probably lucky I wasn't doing more than 2 mph when this happened this morning. I backed out of the driveway, put it in first and drove 5 feet before my front driver side front went down on me. I'm thinking it was the A-Rod? But honestly have no idea. Please look at the pictures, if you have any idea what was done, please shed some light for me. The truck is a 96, has 128k mileage. Is something like this worth fixing? Thanks in advance for any help.
I'll justpost the imagedump links.

Lost a ball joint. You got very lucky!
Should not be too bad to fix. Replace all 4 ball joints now though and then get an alignment. Hopefully it did not damage the CV shaft.

Wow...
Coulda bent the upper control arm as the lower balljoint is what separated.
AND HOLY CRAP. Just saw the last 2 pics... Is it just me or does it looks like he broke his lower control arm? Looks like it'll be a little more than an alignment..

I have to agree with the lower control arm remark from wolfpack, dat dont look good...are those the kind of ball joints that you have to drill thru the rivets?? mine arent like that on my 2002 their press in..2wd
Yeah, you would have to drill out or cut off the rivets. I can not tell if the lower control arm is broken from the pictures. Would need to see some pictures closer up or higher resolution.
Its weird that you dont see any clean metal...when something breaks like that usually you can see the break...but its all dirty under there. I guess it's been on its way out for a while. Maintenance inspections ftw!
And youve got the blue paint marking your tires...did you call the police/fire for an accident report? Or did you make your own parking space in front of your driveway
