Can the center nut to remove the hub bearing be removed without impact gun?

Default Can the center nut to remove the hub bearing be removed without impact gun?

Just like the question says, can I do this with maybe a torch and a big rachet?
And just to make sure it is a 36 mm socket right? Thanks.

I wouldn't use a torch, but a breaker bar and cheater pipe will make it easier. And yes, it should be 36mm.

never use a impact on hub assembly wheel bearings it is a no no and never use a torch

What are you driving? The torque value changed over the years.

I have ALWAYS used an impact to remove the axle nut and have never had a return. I do not use it to set the torque, just to remove and then snug it back up and see no reason not to. Work smarter, not harder. Always use a torque wrench to set the axle nut torque.

i know that 98 and up 180 ftlbs and i think 97 to 94 is 160 ft lbs

98+ is 103ftbls on the axle nut, 77ftlbs on the three bolts that hold the hub to the knuckle.

Thanks my blazer is a 2000 and today I replaced on it the hub bearing and the cv axle thats why I wanted to know the torques.

When i bought a hub assembly for my 98 it said right in the box do not use impact and torque to 180 ft lbs plus i have a book that has all torque properties for all vehicles wheel bearings from 1965 to 2005.

My value came straight from the FSM (factory service manual) for a 2000 and confirmed in the 98 FSM thru 2005 FSM. 103ftlbs. Maybe your particular brand of bearing required higher torque, but I doubt it. I would rather believe GM. And I could see how tightening completely down with an impact may over torque the connection, but if you know what you are doing, there will be no ill effects from using an impact gun.
